  2. Day 2

    Pisac and Ollantaytambo

    PisacOllantaytambo

  3. Day 3

    Maras and Moray

    MarasMoray

Thousands of salt pans cut into the mountainside, still worked by an Inca-era method. Moray's circular terraces, which look like an experiment in climate.

    StayA lodge in Ollantaytambo

  4. Day 4

The mountain train to Aguas Calientes

    Aguas Calientes

By train from Ollantaytambo, following the Urubamba River up into the clouds. A free afternoon in Aguas Calientes.

StayA riverside inn in Aguas Calientes

The ruins of Machu Picchu rising through the mist, the sharp peak behind
  5. Day 5

    Sunrise at Machu Picchu

One of the first buses up, as the lost city emerges from the mist. A two-hour guided tour, then time to explore the site at your own pace.

StayA riverside inn in Aguas Calientes

The green terraces of Machu Picchu with the mountain silhouette behind
  6. Day 6
